Chris Brown, VP International for Basis Technology has been in the high tech industry for over 25 years, working for companies such as Sun Microsystems, Business Objects, SAP, Swisscom, Olivetti, a number of startups and of course Basis Technology, for the last six years. He has lived and worked in the UK, USA, Japan, Switzerland, and Germany and held many senior positions SVP, MD, COO and VP across these companies and he ran his own sales and marketing consultancy for 3.5 years.

Chris has sold solutions in many verticals like Government, Border Environments, Finance, Telco, Retail and Search Companies. He is often approached to speak at conferences focused on profiling in many Countries ranging from the UK to Australia - Malaysia and Spain to name a few.

Tony Smith

Chairman at International Border Management and Technologies Association; Former Director General, UK Border Force

Tony retired as Director General of the UK Border Force in March 2013, after completing over 40 years’ service in the UK Home Office, serving at all at all levels ranging from Executive Officer to Director General.

Tony has the unique distinction of having served as Head of Borders in 2 different countries – Citizenship and Immigration Canada (2000 – 2003) and the UK Immigration Service / UK Border Force (2005 – 2007).

Tony (full name Anthony John Smith) was awarded the prestigious title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the UK New Year’s Honours List 2013, for his services to the safety and security of the London 2012 Olympics. Upon his retirement, Prime Minister David Cameron said: “I have no doubt that all you have achieved will serve as a fitting legacy to your long and distinguished career.” Home Secretary Theresa May said: “Your commitment to our border security has been exemplary and your knowledge and experience have not only been invaluable to Border Force but have been recognised around the world.”

Tony is now a global border management consultant, Managing Director of Fortinus Global Ltd, and chairman of the International Border Management and Technologies Association (IBMATA). He regularly chairs international conferences, seminars and expert panels around the world on various aspects of border control including integrated border management, multiple borders strategies, immigration, customs, automated border controls and identity management at the border. He is a regular commentator on UK national TV radio and news channels on border management, customs, immigration, and border security related issues.

In 2019 Tony was appointed to the expert panel to the UK Parliamentary Commission for Alternative Arrangements for the Irish Border, providing expert advice to the UK government on seamless and invisible border controls and facilitations.

Ricardo Letosa

Senior Product Manager, Border Management

SITA

Ricardo Letosa is Senior Product Manager for SITA’s Border Management solutions. He joined SITA in 2006. Since this time, he has worked with airlines, airports, and governments driving innovation and transformation to improve border security while processing passengers faster and more efficiently.

Ricardo holds a Bachelor in Science (Hons.) in Information Systems from Trinity College, Dublin, and a Masters in Business Administration from IE Business School of Madrid.

Declan Trezise

Director of Applied Engineering

Basis Technology

Declan Trezise is the Director of Applied Engineering for Basis Technology, based out of the UK. He has many years of experience working out the thorniest problems of converting unstructured text into actionable insight, and communicating complex technical solutions to audiences at all levels and walks of life—from international royalty and heads of state to rock stars.

Prior to Basis Technology, he was with Monster.com’s Government Solutions division, where he delivered the UK’s largest job board, Universal Jobmatch for the Department for Work and Pensions. Before that, he was the face of cybersecurity for BAE Systems Applied Intelligence (formerly known as Detica) as the manager and presenter at the prestigious NerveCentre facility.

Declan trained as a theoretical physicist at the University of Exeter and as a graduate, cut his teeth as a developer across a range of technologies in ‘spooky’ applications from network probes for lawful interception to data retention and querying systems for largest telecommunications companies in Europe.
