CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Jan. 24, 2017 — Leaders from several Boston-area tech startups will travel to Tokyo to expand and promote business ties next month. They will be speaking at the Big Data Analytics Tokyo conference, Feb 7-8, 2017, hosted by Basis Technology, Open Data Science, and AI Business.

“Japan is more accessible today to American startups than ever before.  Boston-area companies are at the forefront of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and I’m excited to be bringing these innovators and entrepreneurs to Tokyo,” said Carl Hoffman, CEO of Basis Technology.

Keynote speaker, Tim Rowe, founder and CEO of the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC), says, “Japan is going through a transformation right now from an industrial economy to a knowledge economy.  This conference will open the possibilities to many people of how big data can be used in Japan.”

Serial entrepreneur Andy Palmer, co-founder and CEO of Tamr, says “Big data allows people to take action and answer hard questions from the bottom up.  If you want to have an innovative organization, it’s essential to have a bottom-up philosophy about information access and control.”

The conference will feature 20+ additional speakers from the US and Japan, including researchers from MIT and Tokyo University, and thought leaders from Cloudera, Crowdflower, Elastic, Google, IBM, MapR, Paxata, and more.  Simultaneous interpretation into Japanese will be provided for all English sessions.
